As quilt after lovingly crafted quilt flows out of our organization to a worthy recipient, so letters of gratitude return to us. We share here a small sampling of them to inspire, encourage, and remind our quilters that their efforts are very much needed and greatly appreciated.

Doug Linsemann Enjoys His New Q4K Quilt |
24-year old Doug Linsemann lives with his aunt in Mesa, AZ. He is afflicted with severe rigidity quadriplegia Cerebral Palsy, severe Scoliosis, a VP shunt, allergies and more. Doug leads a busy life and networks with other sick children through A Hand Of Hope and his own website at KidsLikeDoug.com (Check it out--a very inspiring site). After Doug received his Quilts for Kids quilt, Doug and his care provider Bill Bleecker sent the following note of thanks: "We wanted to thank you for the suprise quilt Doug recieved in the mail recently. It is the perfect size for him in his wheelchair and is truly unique and beautiful! I thought that your organization heard about Doug thru A Hand Of Hope, but it turns out our dear friend Kristen was the party involved. Please check out this site: http://www.ahandofhope.org/ to find about 140 kids who fit right in with your mission. Tell Rob that Doug Linsenmann sent you! God Bless all of you at Quilts For Kids!" In a followup e-mail, they also noted the following: "The quilt certainly is big enough for our little guy, who even at 24 is still just a kid in size and heart. I took him outside today and got some photos with his quilt I'll attach here. His new quilt is just the right size for going places in his chair! Please forward our appreciation to the talented woman who made the quilt along with the photos." |

As Quilts for Kids quilter Norma Jean O'Brien was making Wheelchair Bags, her husband Frank observed that veterans in the Delaware Valley Veteran's Home could certainly put such a gift to use as well. With the blessings of Linda Arye and Quilts for Kids, some of the wheelchair bags made by Norma Jean were delivered to the veterans. Following is the letter of gratitude sent by Peter Ojeda, Acting Commandant, and Muriel Tilley-Boggs, RN, Acting Director of Nursing: "We here at the Delaware Valley Veteran's Home would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank you, your members and families for the Assembled Bags for the wheelchairs and walker for coming to the facility and making such a kind donation for our Veterans. "It takes special people to be able to reach out to others as was done for the residents Wednesday the 3rd Of August. This Donation is much appreciated and will leave lasting memories. It gave the veterans at our home the opportunity to see that people do care. "Thanks again for such a wonderful donation!" Interestingly, the lady shown in the picture at left was a fighter pilot during WW2. Though as a woman she couldn't fly in combat missions at that time, she was a fighter plane transporter, helping to reposition the planes for future missions. |

"It helps me get through the rough times!" |
Quilt recipient Kristen sent this handwritten note of thanks to Quilts for Kids: "Thank you beyond words for getting a quilt made for me, as it is sooo beautiful and it helps me get through the rough times. It serves a lot of different purposes & I am glad to say that I am certainly proud to show it off, as I am soo very happy about it! It is getting maximum use as I take it everywhere that I go everyday, just in case it is needed! I love what you are doing for individuals like me that could use a special "gift" to call their own to help them through their days. Also, thank you for keeping me in your thoughts as well! ~~Kristen"
