Kids Helping Kids Feature, June 2006

We're always impressed by the number of young people who get involved helping other children through Quilts for Kids. Below are a selection of random pictures of kids helping kids.

Hard at Work on A Quilt

Sewing, Sewing, Sewing the Day Away

Above, students from Ben Franklin Middle School in Pennsylvania diligently work on quilts to be donated for Thon, a Penn State University charitable organization helping pediatric cancer patients. Below, 8th graders from Newtown Middle School in PA display quilts before donation. Shown are (top row, L to R) Mrs. Janet Evans, Family and Consumer Sciences teacher, Cathy Sager, Vicki Hepp, and Gabby Zanforlin. (Front row, L to R): Meghan Luff, Lauren Shockley, and Greta Skudra.

The Kids Say:

"I felt great knowing that I have made a difference. Kids that are going through difficult times will know that someone cares."

The Kids Say:

"I showed people who are less fortunate than I, that others care about them and want to help them."

Below are quilts made by Michelle Gresia of Mahopac, NY, with the help of her daughter Danielle's Second Grade class at Fulmar Road School. The kids drew and colored the pictures in the blocks, and Michelle did a great job matching the fabric to the crayon drawings. Shown with the quilts is Michelle's daughter Danielle. How cute!
