Sumter Break-a-thon Raises $1663!

At the Sumter Tae Kwon Do Black Belt Academy in Sumter, SC, Master Paul Guiry’s students were kicking with a purpose as they demonstrated their board-breaking techniques to raise money for QFK.  In the end, they not only raised the grand sum of $1663.00, but they were able to donate a quilt to a child right then and there.

The money they raised will enable us to sent a generous shipment of quilts to the hospital of their choice, Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina.

Master Paul said it best as he described the event. “Participating in Quilts for Kids was a great opportunity for myself, the students, the instructors, the community members, and the staff of Sumter Tae Kwon Do Black Belt Academy. It was a wonderful experience to teach our students that there are children in the world (our community) that are fighting lifelong illnesses and abuse and receiving a handmade quilt could make their day a little brighter. We really enjoyed seeing Twila’s reaction to the quilt on event day. It was PRICELESS! Airmen and airwomen volunteered to aid in the success of our event by grilling hotdogs, selling baked goods, drinks, and chips. We look forward to being a part of Quilts for Kids for a very long time!”
