New Georgia Chapter Delivers

Even though our volunteer quilters love to quilt and are anxious to make a difference in the lives of seriously ill children, the highlight of their endeavors has to be the delivery. To see the faces of the kids light up when they choose their favorite quilts from a big, colorful pile of patchwork creations makes everyone smile.
“The hospital arranged for parent permission for us to actually deliver to the children, which was wonderful.” Chapter leader, Cheryl Sloan, enthused, “We’re always looking for volunteers. If you don’t sew, or don’t quilt, we always need fabric donations; kid-friendly, 100% cotton is great.”
We often say we try to turn tears into smiles on the faces of the children, but the smiles also spread to the faces of the volunteers and hospital personnel, not to mention the patients’ families, to whom this unexpected gift from someone they’ve never met means so much.
