Grand Total…37 Quilts!

Sharon Melrose was reading her copy of The Quilter Magazine in January when she came across an article about a quilting contest sponsored by Downy and the Children’s Miracle Network, that spurred her into action.

Since mid-January Sharon has been turning out a quilt every two days, toward the grand total of 37 quilts!  Her impetus may have been the Downy Touch of Comfort contest, but her motivation remained helping sick kids by donating her quilts to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals through Quilts for Kids.

Even though she didn’t win the first prize, a trip for two to Los Angeles to meet Chandra Wilson, of “Grey’s Anatomy,” Sharon is pleased with her gift, a Downy-themed gift basket, an autographed photograph of Downy spokesperson Chandra Wilson, sheets and more.

“Hopefully, some kids got some joy from it. It was worth it. It was a good cause,” she said. “Obviously, this was for children…It wasn’t about winning, it was about the fun and helping the hospitals.”
