Kudos to our First Chapter in Canada!

As temperatures in Ontario plummet into the single digits and below zero, warm-hearted QFK volunteers ventured out into the snow to raise awareness about Quilts for Kids.

Our first Canadian chapter, located in Sault Ste. Marie, ON, held a workshop in the local mall, inviting folks to come by and sew stitches of love into a quilt and offering quilt sponsorships for $10, allowing the donor to sign her name on the quilt.

No-Cook Lasagna!

Agnes Pool, Chapter Leader at Columbiana, AL, updated us recently on their latest workshop.

She writes, "We completed 9 Lasagna Quilts and used most of the Black/White and White Black 2 1/2" strips.  Only a handful were left over.  This makes a total of  14 Quilts from a stack of strips.  Each quilter brought from their stash, we combined them and using Quilt as You Go, Log Cabin Blocks, and Lasagna Strips we sewed them into beautiful little quilts.  Had great fun with this project."

Sometimes the simplest designs are the most striking.  These quilts would be great for teens!

Moody Kick-off

Posted by pam on January 9th, 2015

On Monday January 5th, the women and young ladies pictured below kicked off the first meeting of the Moody Crazy Quilters under the new name, "Moody Quilts 4 Kids".  Fifteen attended on Monday and 13 on Tuesday, including three new members and a visitor who ironed while others sewed!

Nine quilt kits were available to members to either sew at the meeting, or take home. All 9 kits were checked out by members, with a couple of the tops being completed before the end of the day on Tuesday. The others will be returned either at the January 26 meeting, or the Feb 2nd meeting.

All three junior members, Ashley, Ella and Talisa, were busy sewing on various projects  both days.

Thanks for the update, Clydene!  Sounds like Moody is off to a great start.

Knights in Shining Armour

Recently, Linda had the opportunity to visit with the Knights of Columbus in Flemington, NJ, and to deliver quilts to the meeting for them to take to Bristol-Myers Squibb Children's Hospital in New Brunswick.

"What a great evening," Linda commented..."such kind and devoted men who wish to help make a difference for their community. We are honored to have their support."

Their $1,000 donation to QFK will be turning tears to smiles during the Christmas holiday for children who are faced with endless hours in the hospital.

Thanks for making a difference!
