Visit Linda at Quilt Market/Festival in Houston!

Posted by pam on October 8th, 2013

booth

Quilt Market has generously donated booth 1203 to Quilts for Kids so that retailers visiting Quilt Market in Houston October 26-28 as well as quilters enjoying Quilt Festival October 31 -November 3 can stop in and say hello to QFK Founding President, Linda Arye.

She will have two Juki machines there for you to stitch some love into a quilt, and you'll be able to see the exciting new lines of Quilts for Kids fabric, including Ahoy Matie (available now), Safari and Shark Attack (coming in March, 2014) from Northcott... and Sea Shanty from Clothworks (also coming out in March, 2014.)

If you just can't wait to get to your nearest quilt shop, Linda will have reasonably priced packets of QFK fabrics at Festival for you to take home and start sewing!

Always remember, a portion of the proceeds from all of our partners' fabric lines benefits Quilts ...

Our Family Fun Walk was a Huge Success!

Posted by pam on October 1st, 2013

start of walk

Founding President Linda Arye and Michael Barkann of Comcast Sports led the Family Fun Walk September 28th at Shady Brook Farm.

Some volunteers drove for hours to participate, and several quilt recipients showed their gratitude and support by attending.

Many thanks to Shady Brook for donating the venue and to Toys "R" Us employees who volunteered to do everything from set-up to registration to break-down and clean up.  Our thanks also go out to Dominion Energy, S&S Industries, Starbucks, McCaffrey's of Yardley and Catering by Jessica Lee.

...And of course, to Geoffrey!

Enough funds were raised to gift quilts to oncology units at six children's hospitals.  Want to help your local children's hospital?  Click here or contact us at info@quiltsforkids.org.

Quilting Can Be a Challenge

Posted by pam on September 17th, 2013

totebag

This handsome tote bag was provided as a Challenge First Prize by Bonnie Stearns, Chapter Leader of our Silicon Valley Chapter, (using Vistaprint) and we thought, what a good idea!

Many of our chapters issue challenges to their members...to come up with a quilt using a specific pattern, or piece of fabric, or technique...but this is the first time we've heard that prizes have been offered, just for the fun of it.

Second and third place winners received sewing notions, donated by other members.

First place went to Haya,

second to Gayle,

Why Are These Ladies Smiling?

Posted by pam on September 17th, 2013

blank

They've just delivered 22 quilts to Blank Children's Hospital in Des Moines, IA as part of a volunteer project by Monsanto employees in Grinnell.

Every Tuesday night for three months the team gathered together and sewed; some had never quilted before, but learned fast!

One mom wrote, " Thank you so much!  The quilts covering my preemie twins' isolettes brought cheer and comfort to us at a very difficult time and became treasured take-home gifts."

Thank you Kelle Martin, Linda Pease, Susie Pickhardt, Ashley Reitzler, Darcy Hall and Emily Elliot (pictured) and also Teresa Gifford, Jess Austin, Kelly Lunk and Maria Chavaz (not pictured).

To borrow another mom's comment, "Wonderful work, ladies!"
