Turning Tears into Smiles in Baton Rouge

Posted by pam on November 15th, 2013

It's all about the kids, and no one reminds us of that as often as our Baton Rouge Chapter leader, Sharon Hicks.  When she delivers to Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital, her team is allowed to deliver directly to the children.

This month, they were able to put smiles on the faces of three very ill cancer patients.

Sharon writes, "It was not a good day for a lot of personal deliveries to the kids as there was a lot going on.  The three quilts to the three cancer patients were received with joy and gladness.  The little boy (Tim) was so weak but he smiled and waved to me.

It was so touching, the last little girl was able to blow kisses. The baby took the quilt and grabbed it to her."

We are so grateful to all of our 97 chapters for sharing QFK ...

lehigh fair

First came Craft Fair/Family Fun Day.  The energetic ladies of the Lehigh Acres, FL Chapter, River Hall Country Club "branch," made and sold quilts and other hand-made items, getting the word out into the community about Quilts for Kids.

We have to give a shout-out to one of our newest chapters, Northeast Georgia, and leader, Betty Wright.

In existence for just a year-and-a-half they have delivered 204 quilts this year so far to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gateway DV Shelter and others.

And Betty doesn't keep things to herself.  The chapter's Halloween delivery was covered by the Gainesville Times.

Austin looks very pleased with his selection, as does Noah!
