The Personal Side of Dominion Energy

Posted by pam on July 12th, 2013

This beautiful young lady is Katie, the daughter of an employee at Dominion Energy, one of our most faithful and long-time supporters.

It was truly a blessing when Dominion Energy became involved with QFK.  Through their partnership we are able to fund workshops so that quilters could come together and use their talents to create wonderful, colorful quilts for children, which are donated to hospitals in the Dominion Energy region, from Rhode Island, to Ohio, to Virginia.

We have always told our Dominion contacts, "We are your charity.  If you ever hear of anyone who needs a quilt, just call."

Recently we did indeed receive a call from Bob Sauer at the Fairless Hills location telling us that an employee's teen-age daughter had been diagnosed with AML and was receiving chemo.  Carefully chosen just for Katie, this bright scrappy quilt came from a workshop taught by our own Sally Weber to the St. Paul's Church quilt group in Beechwood, NJ.

The latest word on Katie is that she is doing very well.  Receiving chemo on an out-patient basis, she is stable and growing stronger every day as she prepares for her bone marrow transplant.

Thanks to all of you who craft such beautiful quilts to give away.  You may not see a photo of the child who receives yours, but we can assure you that his/her smile will be just as bright as Katie's.
